How to look after Water Chestnut (Eleocharis dulcis)
Position & Light: Full sun.
Soil & Watering: Grown in shallow water (around 5-10cm deep) or very boggy, waterlogged soil. Needs consistently warm conditions over a long season to crop well.
Feeding: A balanced aquatic or general fertiliser worked into the growing medium at planting.
Harvesting: Corms are ready to lift once foliage dies back in autumn, after a long, warm growing season.
Maintenance: Best grown in a large container or tub that can be moved under cover, as it genuinely needs a long, frost-free season to produce usable corms in the UK climate.
